What to Expect
Alentejo is nowadays increasingly known as a region of great wine production. In 2014 it won the title of "Best Wine Region to Visit", in a worldwide contest promoted by the american newspaper "USA Today". With a very rich cultural tradition, It is also notable for the ancient architectural heritage of its cities and towns extending in the case of Évora to almost all of the urban area. An authentic living-museum, the city "is the example of the Portuguese historic center". Classified by UNESCO as World Heritage Site, it has preserved over the centuries its authenticity and monumentality.
